The members of the community will show us their dances, textiles and unique cultural expressions. Taquile Island is home to an authentic community that still observes Incan law and social systems. Due to inadequate tourism management this area is being affected and this trip helps to encourage the preservation of their community life. Later at 1:50 pm approximately, we hike to the main port and descend about 500 steps down to the dock. At 2:30pm we depart to continue our journey onto Amantani Island, (55 minutes motor boat ride). When we arrive at Amantani Island you may see local families running down the hill to welcome you!

There you’ll meet to your host family, (designated by the local administration according to a rotational system, which we are obliged to honor). By small path ways they’ll lead you to your home stay. Feel free to participate in cooking with them! After lunch they will take you into an immersion cultural encounter with their daily lives. Depending on the season, they might be farming, herding or building a house. If you are feeling so inspired, go ahead andjoin them! (This part of the trip is carefully arranged and prepared by your experienced guide, to make a cultural immersion experience of it for you!)

At dinner your host family will dress you up in traditional local costumes and take you to the community hall for a small celebration - it is a lot of fun! Feel the energy of this living culture.
